Dr. Joni MacNeill was born in a small town in Wyoming, surrounded by extended family. At age 10 her family moved to the Seattle area, but she considers herself a small town girl at heart. She received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Washington, then completed her dental degree in 2005 at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. She then returned to the Seattle area to be closer to family. There she was able to practice dentistry for 10 years with her mentor, who encouraged her to complete a series of comprehensive continuing education courses at the distinguished Kois Center for Advanced Dental Studies, which she graduated from in 2011. While in Seattle she was reacquainted with her childhood friend, Matt, whom she soon married. They now have two beautiful, energetic and smart young girls named Elise and Mya.
The MacNeills love the beauty and recreational opportunities that North Idaho has to offer, but it was the chance to raise their girls in such an amazing community that called them to Sandpoint in 2015. The neighbors, co-workers and friends they have met over the years have become their extended family.
The MacNeills love the outdoors. As a family they hike, ski in the winter and play on the lake all summer. They are so grateful to call Sandpoint their home.
Dr. MacNeill feels that the most enjoyable aspect of her job is getting to know her patients and their families so well over the years she sees them. She takes time to listen to each person so she can understand their oral health goals and be better able to help them achieve those goals. She and her staff believe in prevention, gentle dentistry and keeping you on the path of health and a beautiful smile.
Shawn feels lucky to have grown up here in Sandpoint, Idaho. Having a career in Dental Hygiene made it possible to come back to such a beautiful place to raise her girls.
Shawn has two very beautiful grown daughters named Bailey and Danika. She met her husband, Kelly Spielman, and her family grew from three to eight. Kelly has two wonderful boys, Mason and Austin. Mason and his wife Jessika gave them a wonderful grandson, Robert.
Shawn loves spending as much time at the lake on their pontoon boat as she can. She grew up skiing at Schweitzer and tries to get up there when she can to take some runs. She hopes to get to the moutnains on their new side by side ATV and take some hikes with friends and her dog Gus. Travel is a passion of hers and she hopes to do much more in the future. She looks forward every year to the Festival concerts, Arts and Crafts Fair, Schweitzer Wine Fest and Fall Fest. She has worked as a hygienist for 30 years, 29 of those being in Sandpoint. Shawn graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She worked her first year in Bozeman, Montana.
